High Side Switches for Industrial Applications
All Industrial PROFET? devices are extremely energy robust, making them ideal for switching inductive loads and driving relays. Their main application areas include high-voltage applications up to 58V, high-speed PWM applications (up to 1kHz) and they are most notably capable of switching higher inductances smoothly. The well-established core devices can be driven at temperature ranges of -30…85°C, the new Industrial PROFET? family even offers an extended temperature range of -40…1 25°C. The product concept includes a variety of protection functions like over temperature, short circuit, overload, current limitation, open load detection and is available with diagnosis.
PROFET – High Side Switch with smart Features
The highly integrated PROFET? family (PROtected FET) incorporates a broad range of smart features, like diagnosis and protection. PROFET? intelligent power switches consist of DMOS power transistor and CMOS logic circuitry for complete built-in protection.
The PROFET? family offers protection against overload, overvoltage, short-circuit, excessive temperature, ground loss, power supply loss and Electrostatic Discharge (ESD). The PROFET? family products are also capable of protecting against dynamic overvoltage such as load dump and inductive load turn-off. For the benefits and the functionality of the protection features, please refer to www.shengong.net.cn/profet.
The PROFET? diagnostics offer the choice of either status or current sense features, or a combination of both. In the event of a malfunction, the status feature is able to diagnose overtemperature or open-load. The PROFET? high side Switches diagnostic features also provide the user with precise information about switch and load. Diagnostic feedback and load current sensing minimize risks by eliminating the need for additional discrete circuitry and assembly.
This vast range of smart features makes the PROFET? high side Switches ideal for a variety of automotive (12V), trucks & agriculture (24V) and industrial applications.
SPIDER - Smallest Low Side- and High Side Switch
SPIDER stands for SPI Driver for Enhanced Relay control. SPIDER products are the smallest relay drivers in the market with innovative features and packages.
With the SPIDER family Infineon offers a wide choice of integrated Multichannel switches specially designed for the control of small loads like relays, LEDs and small motors.
The new modular family is scaled by RDS(on), packages and add-on features. The SPIDER Switches come in 4- and 8-channel low-side configurations (SPIDER Low-Side), as well as configurable 8-channel high-/low-side configurations (SPIDER High-/low-Side).
The SPIDER Switches offer not only the scalability through the number of channels and the current density, but also flexibility regarding enhanced features like parallel inputs for PWM, limp home and low-voltage cranking.
A variety of packages is available in order to serve different applications.
SPOCTM – Smart High Side Switch
The car module e.g. Body-Control-Module, Fuse-& Junction-Box and Relay-boxes are getting more and more complex. From pure turning on and off the loads to master the unit for multiple comfort functions like seat heating or interior lighting up to number crunching gateway integration. To enable such high integration on one ECU also the power switches must become smaller – and smarter! Simple parallel inputs must be exchanged by a serial interface like SPI. To just pack the devices more dense will create hot spots on the PCB and therefore limit the application usability. Lower power dissipation combined with a smart interface is the solution. Therefore Infineon invented the SPI-Power-Controller SPOC? in his 5th generation called SPOC?+2.
FLEX – Multichannel Low-Side Switch
The Flex Multichannel Low-Side Switches family for powertrain, safety and industrial applications is specially designed to drive a various range of loads from relays, injector valves, oxygen probe heaters and general purpose solenoids, through to unipolar stepper motors. We offer a complete family concept with full scalability from 2 to 18 channels and leading edge technology.
All Flex Multichannel Switches have full certification and are equipped with embedded protection functions and enhanced diagnosis which are used in numerous industry platforms.
HITFET, TEMPFET – Smart Low Side Switches
TEMPFET: The era of the Infineon’s Smart Power Low Side switches began with the introduction of the TEMPFET?. TEMPFET? devices are temperature protected FET-switches. The TEMPFET Switches can be controlled as any discrete FET, but in addition they implement a temperature protection. Characteristic for TEMPFET? devices is the temperature sensor. This sensor is mounted on top of a standard MOSFET. The temperature sensor has the behaviour of a thyristor. It fires at overtemperature. In the classic version of the TEMPFET?, the temperature sensor is connected already internally in-between gate and source of the MOSFET. In case of an overtemperature it simply shorts gate and source and hence switches the MOSFET off. Since this concept requires a serial gate resistor to protect the internal thyristor, the classic TEMPFET? devices are restricted to applications with slower switching times. With the Speed-TEMPFET? family the temperature sensor is externally available. This enables the user of a Speed TEMPFET? on the one hand side to define, how the Speed TEMPFET? should react at overtemperature, on the other hand it extends the application area for temperature protected FET switches towards fast-switching PWM applications. To ensure short circuit protection for classic TEMPEFT? devices, the maximum gate to source voltage has to be limited.
HITFET: Ever increasing demand for highly integrated protected switches will continue to drive the use, acceptance and development of HITFET? (High-Integrated Temperature protected FET) long into the future. Fault detection and protection are safety features required and widely used today in numerous automotive and industrial applications. In particular for these high power applications where voltage transients or high inductance loads are present, circuit protection is critical. HITFET low-side switches are versatile power transistors ideally designed for automotive and industrial applications. Their built-in intelligence and protective features offer not only significant cost and PCB reduction, shorter time to market, but also improved performance & reliability over conventional, discrete solutions.
Galvanic Isolated High Side Switches and Input ICs
The ISOFACE? ISO1H8xxG product family offers robust and intelligent galvanic isolated interfaces between the micro-controller or bus-ASIC and the power switches. Its 8-channel high-side switches can drive any kind of resistive, inductive or capacitive loads.
ISOFACE? high side switches integrate robust galvanic isolation (UL508 and EN 61131-2 certified) to protect the 3.3V/5V control domain of an industrial control system from the harsh 24V (typ.) process side and 8-channel high-side power-switching capabilities of up to 1.2A per channel. Further features like active current limitation, over temperature protection and common diagnostic feedback for over temperature and for Vbb under-voltage make them the ideal choice for industry automation systems.
The ISOFACE? product family is best suited for applications such as Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Distributed Control Systems, General Control Equipment, Robotics and Solid State Relay. The ISO1H81xG products enable OEM-product designs which meet the stringent EMI requirements of the IEC 61131-2 norm (zone C) applicable for Programmable Logical Controllers (PLC).
